Things That Matter

An exhibition that matters

Things That Matter is an exhibition about important things and the importance of things: objects carrying a huge personal significance are simultaneously interwoven with the social issues of today, like migration and heritage.

Ten questions on current social issues

We’ve selected objects from the museum’s collection to serve as inspiration for people from the Netherlands and far beyond its borders to share their personal stories, ranged around ten different themes. Thus the Dutch presenter and actor with Surinamese roots Jörgen Raymann reflects on the mix of different religions in his family and activist Kathy Jetril-Kijner shares her worries about rising sea levels and how this impacts her community and culture
