Both textiles have a long tradition: kente is a royal fabric from Ghana, while Vlisco’s wax prints are a Dutch product popular in West Africa for over one and a half centuries. For many, these colourful prints epitomize African dress. In Things That Matter the Tropenmuseum shows both traditional fabrics and contemporary creations by young designers.
