What does your clothing say about you?

Clothing is one of the strongest statements about your personality

That’s certainly true of the colourful kente and wax prints. These textiles declare quite clearly: I feel allied with Africa.

Both textiles have a long tradition: kente is a royal fabric from Ghana, while Vlisco’s wax prints are a Dutch product popular in West Africa for over one and a half centuries. For many, these colourful prints epitomize African dress. In Things That Matter the Tropenmuseum shows both traditional fabrics and contemporary creations by young designers.
