The exhibition is no longer on display in Amsterdam, but can be seen at the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam from October 10.
Poetry plays a major role in societies in West Asia and North Africa. Across social classes, national boundaries and languages, poems are known and recited by heart by millions of people. The new exhibition Poetry of the People highlights influential poems from these regions. The exhibition shows how poetry can influence people's lives both on an individual and collective level.
Poetry of the People was on display in Amsterdam from February 14 to August 24, 2025.
