Interactive art installation during Amsterdam Light Festival

This year, Wereldmuseum Amsterdam is part of Amsterdam Light Festival again. From 26 November 2026 through 17 January 2027, the interactive light artwork Resurgent Streams stands in the middle of our Lichthal. Access to the artwork is included with a museum ticket, for example in combination with a visit to the temporary exhibitions DISCO or Play!

About the artwork Resurgent Streams

The light installation Resurgent Streams by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer is dedicated to contemporary Mexican Indigenous poetry. In the artwork, letters and words flow in constantly changing paths across a vertical wall. The installation contains poems in languages including Tsotsil, Mayo, Purépecha, Náhuatl, Mixe, Ch’ol, Mixteco, Zoque, Maya and Zapotec. When you stand in front of the artwork and move, poems emerge from the stream of letters. In this way, you become part of the artwork.
