Imagine Peace: Re/member Identity

In this edition

This time is Imagine Peace centered on Re/membering as an active practice. Through the performance Nelly’s Locket and a roundtable conversation, speakers and audiences explore how to reconnect with self, community, and history, especially when memories remain raw and tensions persist.

Re/membering is about bringing back together what has been broken. About restoring connection with yourself, with your community, and with the histories you carry.

The performance Nelly’s Locket forms the starting point. In this dance work, the body becomes a site of memory, loss, and connection. From there, the conversation unfolds.

What does it mean to live with memories that are still raw, while conflict continues?

How do you relate to an identity or homeland shaped by recent events?

And what does it ask of you to become part of a community again when the wound is still open? During a roundtable conversation, speakers from different backgrounds bring their perspectives together. With contributions from Ahmed Idriss, Alejandra Wijne, Shwan Raouf, and Liat Waysbort, we explore through lived experience, knowledge, and imagination what it means to reconnect, especially when memories remain present and tensions continue.
