Mikado XL version
2 to 6 players - ages 6 and up - ± 20 minutes
Aim
Collect the most points by picking up the sticks.
Setup
Hold all 33 sticks upright, with their points on the floor. Let go, so that they fall into a jumble.
Play
Players have to remove the sticks one at a time without making any other stick move. You may do this with your hand, if need be by pressing down on the end of a stick. Once a player has picked up a stick, it can be used to flick other sticks free. If another stick does move, the turn passes to the next player. This goes on until all the sticks are gone.
Scoring
This XL version uses a different colour code:
- Mikado – white, 1 stick: 20 points
- Pink, 8 sticks: 10 points
- Dark blue, 8 sticks: 5 points
- Light blue, 8 sticks: 3 points
- Turquoise, 8 sticks: 2 points
Winner
The winner is the player with the most points. You can also simplify the game and play it so that whoever has the most sticks wins.
