Aim
Be the first to get rid of all your tiles.
Setup
Lay all 28 tiles face down and shuffle them. With two players, each takes seven tiles; with three or four players, each takes five. The rest stay on the table as the stock. Whoever holds the highest double begins and lays it on the table.
Play
Going clockwise, players take turns adding a tile to one of the open ends, where the number of pips has to match. If you can play, you must play.
Doubles are laid crosswise and all other tiles lengthways. The difference is that tiles may be added to both sides of a double (four tiles in total), while the other tiles take only one tile at each end.
If you cannot play, take a tile from the stock. Once the stock is empty, you miss your turn.
Winner
The first player to get rid of all their tiles. If nobody can play any more, the player with the fewest pips in hand wins.
