Slavery and colonialism are subjects that the NMVW pays attention to, these are themes that are embedded in the DNA of our museums. Our Colonial Inheritance, starts from the physical museum and its collections, but also forms this virtual place you are now on. Here we create a space to share, bring and pass on knowledge and stories.
By committing ourselves for seven years and continuously researching topics related to Our Colonial Inheritance, we want to change the narrative around these topics in dialogue with new generations. We want to contribute to a more just world and increase understanding for each other in society.
On 24 June 2022, we will open the permanent exhibition in Tropenmuseum: Our Colonial Inheritance
